What:
Called “one of the most original musical thinkers of the new century” (Alex Ross, The New Yorker), John Luther Adams is a composer whose life and work are deeply rooted in the natural world. Third Angle presents Adams’ masterpiece, “Earth and the Great Weather”, a concert-length work the composer describes as “…a journey through the physical, cultural and spiritual landscapes of the Arctic, in music, language, and sound…”

What:
Third Angle Ensemble will perform its latest tribute and extravaganza to the master minimalist, Steve Reich. For the second time, Reich-analia will take place in the spectacular Atrium at Montgomery Park, which was hailed as “...a stroke of genius…” for venue choice by The Oregonian in 2011. The program includes Electric Counterpoint, Vermont Counterpoint, and the epic masterpiece Music for 18 Musicians. Special guests include master jazz guitarist, Dan Balmer and vocalists from Cappella Romana.

Join us for Asian Music Now, a walking tour in sight and sound, a full immersion in contemporary Chinese culture, PDX style. The beautiful Lan Su Garden is the setting for this program which features new music by the leading Chinese composers of our time, including Zhou Long, Xiao-Ou, and Huang Ruo. Mr. Huang will also be one of the performers, joining pipa virtuoso Min Xiao-Fen and the Third Anglers.
