I had no idea Donna had passed until I opened your fb site about playing the Bloch/Bach with Hamilton. Oh my, what a loss.
It takes my breath away.
Yes, I agree with Jane, Ron. Linda. Your tribute is lovely.
Yes, I agree with Ron. No one was ever more fuss worthy.
God speed to a grand Spirit.

peace. love. chele

Ron and Linda, this is a most beautiful tribute. It doesn't make the loss of Donna any more believable, but it helps me stay connected to her. Thank you.

Still waiting for a Wallace Shawn opus "My Dinner with Narong" with the above pic in the trailer, but second the idea that this is a serious composer...dangerous even! Phenomenon grew on me rather like the fireballs...definitely a piece to pass through the body playing it. The preternatural energy missing from the Prokofiev, although it remains one of my favorite symphonic works to play. Wonder what Alex ("Alexigente") Ross would make of it....you'll have to ask him!

I remember the 'no horn' sign from my stay at a university in Beijing in 1981. The sign was posted near the front of my dorm, and since the area was lit at night, that is where a horn player practiced.

Yes, few have the ability to uplift and inspire, but all have the power to make a mess of any but the tightest ensembles.

I have a front row seat as Chris tortures Hartt conducting students every Monday (including a good friend from Oregon). Between him and the student "guinea pig" quintet, there is a lot of brutal honesty but it's usually a good time. I can just imagine what Rose City is like.
