Music and spoken word come together for an intimate evening of poetry and storytelling, the next in Third Angle’s Hearing Voices series. The program features the Portland premiere of two Third Angle commissions: the West Coast premiere of a new work by LJ White, including original poetry by Michael and Matthew Dickman, and the world premiere of a piece by Portland composer Jay Derderian, featuring text by Sandra Stone. The program concludes with a battle between words and music in Lee Hyla’s Howl, a string quartet written in 1993 to accompany Allen Ginsberg’s poem of the same name.
